The 2017 model still possesses a tough truck look but there is somewhat less dramatic than with past instances. A massive front grille and a stacked, rectangular headlamp housing design immediately distinguishes the 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks. Quad-beam LED headlights and tailgates are offered through advanced lighting technology introduced on the new truck. The ‘Super Duty’ imprint is worn on the hood lid just above the grille. Bulkier side mirrors as well as side louvers also define the Super Duty line.

The practicality of a large bed provides several features unique to the Super Duty. For ultimate torque production, the 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbocharged diesel V-8 engine returns to the Super Duty line-up for 2017. Chassis cab models will also present the option of a 6.8-liter V-10 powerplant. No performance numbers have been released regarding either the gasoline or diesel engines with the 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks. Since the Ram HD line recently moved to upstage Ford’s toughest diesel trucks with 900 pound-feet of torque, don’t expect Ford to take this lying down.

Through advanced trailer tow technology, As many as seven cameras are available on the 2017 Ford Super Duty providing an incredible view all around the truck. Four of the cameras are enough to create a 360-degree view around the pickup truck. Dirty Trick by Volkswagen Led to Sale of Dirty Diesels in North America

On Monday night, Volkswagen was in New York City wanting focus to be on the premiere of their new 2016 model year Passat sedan. Instead, the German-based auto company was seen largely as the perpetrators of one of the most sinister new-car emission law breaches in current automotive history.

Announced on Friday, September 18th, the United States EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) issued a notice of violation to Volkswagen in regards to members of their diesel engine family sold in North America. Diesel versions of the Volkswagen Beetle, Golf, Jetta, Passat as well as the Audi A3 (a premium vehicle based on the same platform as the Golf) produced in model years between 2009 and 2015 are all embroiled in a wild controversy. Altogether, the total vehicles affected amounts to around 500,000 cars in the United States and Canada. Championed by Volkswagen by a "TDI Clean Diesel", these vehicles powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine have been spewing up to 40 times greater nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions than the EPA standard causing a greater amount to damage to the environment than intended.

What makes the emission violation so distressing is the manner Volkswagen has allegedly tried to sneak their TDI diesel vehicles into the marketplace. Uncovered by an researchers at West Virginia University, software apparently allowed Volkswagen Group to fool the EPA and North American driving public in general for years that their vehicles were in compliance of emission rules. Referred to by the EPA and defined by the Clean Air Act as a "defeat device", software could detect when an emission test was underway and activate the vehicle's full emission control systems. During regular on-road driving, the defeat device allowed greenhouse emissions greater than the levels tested to flow out of the exhaust system.

With the announcement of the non-complying emissions as well as news investigations by the EPA and CARB (California Air Resources Board), Volkswagen confirmed that defeat devices were in the affected vehicles. "I personally am deeply sorry that we have broken the trust of our customers and the public. While the announcement was revealed on a Friday, it wasn't until the three days later on Monday that Volkswagen met a major fire-storm. The stock price of the company was hammered hard in just a single day. Starting Monday's session in the 162-163 Euro price range per share, the value has fallen more than 30 points 24 hours later. At dealerships, customers are unable to purchase the affected TDI models. With only a short time passing since the revelation, Merchant Law Group has filed a case action lawsuit in British Columbia's Supreme Court was filed on Monday. The law firm also pledges that similar suits will be before courts in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec in the coming days.

The fallout of this is environmental violation by Volkswagen Group appears to still be reaching a pike. Civil penalties as well as potential criminal charges are possible in the United States that could amount up to 18 billion dollars (though a settlement for less is highly likely). The defeat device software also has other countries such as South Korea investigating emissions of Volkswagen and Audi products sold on their soil.

A car that long enjoyed the spotlight as the example of efficient small cars, the current Civic in 2015 has arguably lost perspective of the automotive marketplace in the second decade of the 21st century. The ninth-generation Honda Civic launched for the 2012 model year for the North American market was received poorly. In the following year, an unusual early revision of the Honda Civic took care of some problems but issues with the bland styling and dated engine technology plagued the car in recent years. The emerge of the mundane ninth-generation Civic came as drastic gains were made by competitors such as Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan and Hyundai. A parallel with the classic benchmark of automobiles, the Ford Model T, the Honda Civic was accused of falling victim to its reliance to design and technologies that amazed previous generations of drivers but is outclassed over years by enhanced competition. Rather than backing down as the Model T nameplate did, the Civic approaches 2016 as a complete reinvention of itself.




Introducing the 2016 Honda Civic Sedan

After a ninth-generation restyle that was judged by many as too tame, Honda started with a clean slate on the tenth-generation Civic’s exterior. The 2016 Civic Concept first shown at the 2015 New York Auto Show teased us to a redefining era for the Honda compact car. At first look, fans of the current Civic Sedan may have a hard time believing this new car is the descendant of the vehicle they knew. From vanilla styling, the 2016 Honda Civic realizes a modernistic appearance. The overall sedan body style is sleeker with a shorter than ever notch of the trunk lid. Front and rear styling symbolizes Honda’s new approach for the brand’s DNA. Headlights of the new car feature standard LED daytime running lights while the C-shaped taillights also include LED use. Improvements to ergonomics on the 2016 Civic Sedan will be noted at the rear. A larger capacity trunk is accessible by a trunk lid that features a lower liftover height for easier loading and unloading of cargo.



 

Wider, lower and based on a 1.2-inch longer wheelbase, the 2016 Civic Sedan’s sophisticated, sporty demeanour is said to be 12 percent better than its predecessor. With the increased engine output provided to the conventional Civic, expect a more powerful Si to exceed its 204-horsepower level. North American audiences can also look forward to the debut of the Civic Type-R. An obvious effort to better the Focus RS, the first Honda Civic Type-R destined for Canada and the United States should produce more than 300 horsepower when it arrives. Other suspension, mechanical and aerodynamic improvements should make the Type-R version one of the feistiest Civics ever to leave the showroom floor.

 


Compact Car with Roomier Interior

The new Honda Civic Sedan’s interior has not been ignored in the evolutionary restyle. With 3.7 cubic-feet more interior space, the 2016 Honda Civic is among the largest in the compact car segment. Rear seat leg room within the new interior grows by a full two inches compared to the 2015 Civic. A body-sealing procedure will lead to significantly less unwanted road noise seeping into the cabin. Acoustic glass, triple-sealed doors and increased sound deadening around the engine compartment will contribute to a quiet ride.

Scheduled for rapid release this fall, Honda isn’t leaving the 10th generation Civic Sedan with a lot of time to settle on the car magazine pages or blogs.

Cadillac Previews XT5 with Fashion Designer Partnership



While all auto companies seek to be a fashion idol in one way or another, luxury car companies all aim to be the Coach bag or Armani suit of the wheeled kind. By moving their head office into New York City's trendy SoHo area, General Motors' luxury car gem Cadillac has been planting their ear to the ground to high-fashion. It appears Cadillac has quickly made use of contacts gained in its new neighbourhood.

Through a collaboration announcement with fellow American brand and fashion designer Public School, Cadillac has provided a detailed tease of their latest, all-new crossover vehicle. The partnership for a Dubai Pre-Fall Collection for Public School in November will also coincide with launch of Cadillac's eagerly-awaited new model.





As predicted, the newest Cadillac crossover vehicle is part of a name branding strategy. Called the XT5, the 2017 model year product will be the luxury automobile's first redesign of a crossover since 2010. From the three clear images of the 2017 Cadillac XT5's exterior, the premium utility employs the ultra-modern design touches seen on the recently-introduced CT6 sedan. Front lighting elements and a bold Cadillac grille floating within the body shape of the XT5 provides a smooth flow magnified by contoured bodywork. The side of the XT5 crossover integrates a long curved streak that rises towards the rear section. A wide, muscular stance of a sport sedan appears at the rear of the Cadillac XT5. Traditional tall Cadillac taillights are located at the corners while a large license plate frame taking the shape of the brand's emblem is centered within the liftgate.





Cadillac has fallen into the predicament where they are one of the only major premium car companies with just one crossover utility-type offering. In the North American marketplace, German luxury leaders Mercedes-Benz and BMW both supply five crossover-style vehicles to the United States and Canadian customer. Infinti as well as Audi offer three while even two crossovers are available through Porsche dealerships. It's expected Cadillac's 'XT' line-up will soon expand with perhaps a smaller XT3 or maybe the incorporation of a larger model positioned between the XT5 and Escalade.

Honda Launching MotoGP Powered Street Rocket with Project 2&4 Concept at Frankfurt

Project 2&4 marries automobile and motorcycle qualities for a raw sport vehicle that is actually street legal.







A shape inspired by Honda's RA272 race car and sharing a single-seat, mid-mounted engine, Project 2&4's physique resembles the barebones performance intent most racers seek. Bodywork is streamlined while functional components such as the exhaust and the suspension system is exposed. An open cockpit driving experience features what is called a 'floating seat design'. Through the seat positioning, the Project 2&4 places the driver intimately just above the road surface. Focused on a low center of gravity, the Honda concept car weighs just 405 kilograms (892.87 pounds). The Honda Project 2&4's exterior is wrapped in livery bidding tribute to the Japanese brand's participation in the1960s Formula 1.

Powering the concept is a 999 cc four-cylinder RC213V engine pulled from the racing bike used in MotoGP. Motorcycle-style, high-revving stamina is bestowed on Honda's Project 2&4 as the performance peak for roughly 212 horsepower is set at 13,000 rpm with the MotoGP power unit applied to the concept. Featuring a 14,000 rpm red line, the motorsport-derived engine has been tuned specifically for road use. A six-speed dual-clutch transmission is paired with the motorcycle powerplant.

What Happened In Vegas? The World Premiere Of The Fourth-Generation Toyota Prius



Realizing an automotive landscape today where almost every automaker promoting vehicles with some kind of electrified powertrain, it is hard to recall how 20 years ago electric or hybrid cars were seen as an oddity. Back then, Toyota raised eyebrows with the production of a small car that combined gasoline and electric power to move. Advertised as a more environmentally-friendly way of travel, the idea also presented some practicality.

The first Toyota Prius was bold technology for the 1990s based on an idea that actually dated back around the turn of the 20th century. To many, a gasoline engine and electric motor working together was a wacky premise resulting in the Prius being received like the stereotypical nerdy kid. Bravery of the Toyota Prius allowed it to survive critics who dismissed the advantages of the hybrid vehicle as a green fad or bean-counters who believed hybrids can never be produced profitably. No longer the era where the majority of Internet came through a dial-up connection, the nerdy kid is now an over-achiever (although these days the term 'nerd' is thankfully more of a dear of endearment). For 2016, a fourth-generation Toyota Prius appears destined to show its classmates what can happen when someone dares to realize their differences as a valuable asset.





Premiering in Las Vegas, the 2016 Toyota Prius was elevated into the night sky of 'Sin City'. Bentley Officially Enters the Luxury Crossover Club with Bentayga




Ever since Porsche introduced the Cayenne in the 2000s, no automaker has been ruled-out in adding a crossover vehicle to their line-up. At 2012 Geneva Motor Show, British luxury vehicle brand Bentley unveiled a concept design to what was seen as the impending arrival of a super-luxury crossover. A marque seen as one of the most prestigious builders of automobiles in the world, Bentley only needed to create a world-topping vehicle for the popular segment. Almost four years later, the Bentley Bentayga is the form of an all-new bred of luxury crossover vehicle.

Though the Bentayga represents the inauguration of Bentley's foray into a new class of motoring, the vehicle is the end result of a long, uneasy journey of exploration. The EXP 9 F Concept (an initial design creation meant to chart the vision of Bentley's crossover vehicle) premiered in 2012 to a largely negative reception. While the idea of a Bentley crossover vehicle was not significantly opposed, the exterior design direction displayed with the EXP 9 F Concept was disliked. Automotive press and individuals criticized what was a somewhat malformed appearance of the famous luxury carmaker's personality. The loathed styling of the Bentley EXP 9 F Concept came as a shock to the luxury car maker. Necessitating a vastly different transition from concept to production, Bentley's Bentayga is a softened reimagining of a high-class crossover vehicle.





A brand that established itself in the 1920s by winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans on several occasions, the perception of a crossover utility vehicle based on Bentley's heritage was clearly a challenge. Featuring state-of-the-art construction that includes the use of weight-saving aluminum, the Bentley Bentayga balances design cues of the Continental GT and Flying Spur with the tall, utility vehicle stature. Full-LED headlights and a trademark large matrix grille adorn the front of the Bentayga while the rear taillights illuminate with a distant 'B' shape. Not all of the design elements of the controversial EXP 9 F Concept were abandoned. A Pronounced flaring around the rear wheels translated into the Bentley Bentayga's side profile. Bespoke alloy wheel patterns ranging between 20 and 22 inches will be available artfully illustrating the premium product in motion.

Two panes are used to shape the standard panoramic glass roof. Making up 60 percent of the total roof surface, glass allows the Bentley Bentayga's interior to fill with natural light. Superior cabin brightness inside the luxury crossover provides the ideal solution to show off the Bentayga's fine-crafted materials. As typical with all Bentley vehicles, handcrafted wood and bull-hide leather materials are installed in every regard to facilitating a high-class ambience. All 15 pieces of wood veneer and metal components are placed using precision fits adhering to strict tolerances. Polished metal pieces are infused throughout the cabin placed on the dash, center console and doors. Functional comfort inside the Bentley Bentayga is supplied by 22-way power adjustable front seats and 18-way adjustable rear seats. Four-passenger or five-passenger interior layouts are offered with the crossover. Rear seat occupants are the recipients of Bentley's latest connected vehicle innovation exhibited for the first time with the Bentayga. The Bentley Entertainment Tablet functions through a 10.2-inch Android device featuring high-speed 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. At the front, an eight-inch touch screen serves as the interface for a 60-gigabyte infotainment system that can operate in 30 different languages. Three stereo speaker options come with the Bentley Bentayga. The top-rated unit is a 1,950-watt Naim for Bentley Premium Audio system that channels sound through a set of 18 speakers.





The Bentley Bentayga is created on an all-new Volkswagen Group platform also used for the upcoming Audi Q7. Functioning with a permanent all-wheel drive, the Bentley crossover's speaks with its own sophisticated W12 TSI voice. An all-new twelve-cylinder engine built in Crewe, the twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter powerplant incorporates fuel delivery through indirect and direct injection. 600 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque from the English W12 engine moves the Bentayga with a force unmatched by any other production crossover utility vehicle on the market. Through an eight-speed automatic transmission, the all-wheel drive system receives horsepower in a manner allowing 0 to 60-mile per hour acceleration times in 4 seconds. Diesel and hybrid versions of the Bentayga is also touted for future release by Bentley.





With enormous power, a full suite of technology is in place to responsibly handle the crossover's performance. Electric power steering, Electronic Stability Control, multi-mode traction control and Hill Descent Control is found on the Bentley Bentayga. Other active safety equipment available on the Bentley crossover includes night vision and adaptive cruise control that uses sensors, cameras as well as navigation data to modify the vehicle's speed. For driving off-road,  an optional Responsive Off-Road Setting provides a full-range of information referencing characteristics such as the Bentayga's pitch, roll and altitude in the instrument display. In the city, an available Park Assist system will find an appropriate parallel or perpendicular spot for the crossover. Once found, Park Assist steers the vehicle into a parking spot. An air suspension with four modes of adjustment is standard on the Bentley Bentayga providing tailored riding on-road or off-road.  
 
The public unveiling for the Bentley Bentayga is scheduled for the IAA Frankfurt Show opening next week. The delivery process for the all-new luxury crossover will start in early 2016.

Uber And Mattel Unleashes Dodge Charger Stormtroopers On New York City During Force Friday

For any fan of Star Wars, the Stormtroopers is instantly recognized as a feared military group operating under the Emperor. While fierce in numbers and equipped with superior weaponry, it is somewhat surprising to the reason how the Stormtroopers can be so terrifying judging by the movies in the original trilogy. Despite their often overwhelming numbers, they're often beaten by the heroes in the Star Wars franchise. Stormtroopers' shaky aim has also been a source of comedic reference. Still, the white armoured army of the Galactic Empire remains a stable of Star Wars.

Corresponding with Mattel's release of all-new toys for what is possibility the most popular film franchise around, Stormtroopers invaded the streets of the New York City. Eight specially-decorated Dodge Charger SRT 392 sedans appeared in the Big Apple on Friday September 4th known as Force Friday. The so-called Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper Dodge Chargers are available as a rider through ride-sharing app Uber. A special 'HOTWHEELSFF' code would allow Uber riders to catch a free trip in the Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper Dodge Charger. Vehicles with 485 horsepower in tap from a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine, this case the Stormtroopers are given some serious force energy.

With the presence of the eight-car Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper Dodge Charger army under the Uber banner on Force Friday, there would have certainly been a few parties in the older taxi industry musing about the sight. Is it possible New York City taxi companies consider themselves the Knights of the Old Republic?

Among with being influenced by Star Wars in general, the eight Dodge Chargers were created based on the diecast car designs conceived by Mattel's Hot Wheels brand. Diecast cars inspired by the cast and characters of the Star Wars franchise were first issued through a Hot Wheels toy line last year. Characters such as Darth Vader, Yoda and even the loveable droid R2-D2 have become four-wheeled themed enjoyments as a collectable or for leisure.

A New Pentastar is Born: FCA Improves Prized V-6 Engine

Becoming the most famous six-cylinder engine design created for Chrysler/FCA products since the Slant-6 that was produced for most than 40 years, the 3.6-liter displacement size Pentastar V-6 gained favour for being powerful, fuel efficient and universal in a single package. Topping out at 305-horsepower with the Dodge Challenger, the evolved engine allows the coupe to achieve 30 miles per gallon highway fuel economy (7.8 liters per 100-kilometer range by Canadian fuel economy measurements). For 2015, almost every vehicle of the Chrysler, Dodge and Ram division offer the modern six-cylinder powerplant. Offered as the base engine in the Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Grand Caravan minivan, even the Ram pickup truck and ProMaster work van make use of the power source. For 2016, the Pentastar V-6 has undergone a significant reworking that should be immediately noticed by buyers of FCA vehicles.

Introduced by Chrysler for the 2011 model year, the Pentastar V-6 engine’s technology has made it one of the most intriguing powerplants. While most auto companies were adding gasoline direct injection and turbocharging 250-plus horsepower six-cylinder engines, the Pentastar is largely a simpler but optimized power unit. The re-tweaking of the powerplant follows the modern tradition of the powerplant while creating a lighter, more efficient machine for the upcoming model year.

Making the engine more fuel efficient and even better performing on the road, the 2016 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine is actually lighter than its previous version. The four-pound weight decrease is credited to shaving weight through redesigned engine components. Thin-walled die-cast pieces are lighter but do not compromise NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) performance. A two-step variable valve lift system and an enhanced variable-valve timing system are features found on the latest upgrade of the 3.6-liter engine. A new intake manifold, higher compression ratio and high-tumble intake ports are some of the immediate changes to the Pentastar V-6. With the advancement of the Pentastar V-6 engine, FCA has retained an older-style fuel injection system layout. Sequential multiport fuel injection now utilizes eight-hole fuel injectors (twice as many holes what is found on the predecessor’s engine providing better atomization). The latest iteration of the FCA engine also engineered with friction-reducing components for smoother operations.

One of the crowning achievements with the new Pentastar V-6 is the inclusion of an EGR valve. The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve redirects some of the exhaust gases emitted from an engine into the next combustion cycle for reduced nitrogen oxide emissions. The presently available Pentastar engine originally touted the absence of an EGR valve with the use of advanced emissions technology. With the upgrade to the powerplant, the cooled EGR setup is installed for greater emissions reduction and will contribute to knock-free operations at higher loads.

Undergoing 4.7-million test miles in its development process, the latest Pentastar V-6 obtains greater responsiveness and longer potential cruising ranges. The new engine is configured to grant greater torque production at a lower range. Engine torque availability at ranges below 3,000 rpms will increase by 14.9 percent depending on the installation. Capable of going further on a gallon of gasoline, the new Pentastar V-6 engine is advertised to feature six-percent better fuel economy than the 2015 version. The use of Engine Stop Start is also mentioned as component that the new Pentastar engine technology.

The refined Pentastar V-6's first home will be under the hood of the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Expect to see the Pentastar shape infused on other FCA models in a very short time.
