New Battery Extends the Range of 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV to 417 Kilometers

Photo Credit: Chevrolet/General Motors Back in 2015, Chevrolet made a bold announcement confirming their first all-electric full-scale production car born from principles exhibited by the Bolt EV Concept . Relative affordability as a battery-powered vehicle as well as an operating range of 200 miles was among the key features advertised on the revolutionary product. Delivering on their interpretation of a zero-emission entry-level vehicle competing against the Nissan LEAF and Tesla Model 3 , the 2017 model year premiere of the Bolt EV has been followed by modest sales. After three years on the market, Chevrolet’s all-electric Bolt EV hatchback will go the extra mile (or extra kilometer in Canada) to win over new customers. For 2020, the Chevrolet Bolt EV will feature an extended range that is almost 10 percent greater than its 2019 counterpart. The updated 2020 Bolt EV will possess an EPA-estimated range of 417 kilometers (259 miles) on a single charge. Resulting in a range incr...

Chevrolet Hands the Power of Canada’s First Bolt EV to Customers

Photo Credit: General Motors of Canada It was almost two years ago when the Chevrolet Bolt EV Concept car made an electrifying appearance at the 2015 Canadian International AutoShow . Coinciding with the vehicle’s presence at the auto show was the official news Chevrolet would sell a production version of the all-electric compact. After a short development from car show to showroom, the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is ready for the challenging climate of Canada. At the beginning of February, a trio of electric vehicle enthusiasts has become the first 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV owners. Dean Myers Chevrolet and City Chevrolet of Toronto, Ontario as well as Bourgeois Chevrolet in Rawdon, Quebec (located roughly 60 kilometers north of Montreal) have the distinction of delivering the long-range compact electric car to their customers. Director at Scotiabank Samantha Mesrobian, former president of RenoDepot Claude Michaud and I.T. Executive Joe Winkfein are named as the first members of the Ch...

Chevrolet Bolt EV Charge In Canada With $42,795 MSRP Price Tag

Photo Credit: Chris Nagy At the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, General Motors' volume-leading division Chevrolet made a bold presentation of a concept representing the notion of the bowtie brand's first serious production vehicle not to be powered by an internal combustion engine. Besides the existence of the all-electric Bolt EV Concept, Chevrolet made a bold-looking pledge of an affordable battery-powered vehicle that can be driven to a range beyond 200 miles (320 kilometers). The original Bolt EV Concept quickly morphed into the production-ready all-electric concept car preserving a surprisingly hefty account of the design features touted on the auto show floor almost two years ago. A subcompact hatchback with a share of economy and technology, the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV will soon need to face the test of persuading a mass market to realistically consider an option to gasoline power. As the early 2017 arrival of the all-electric Chevy is being...

Recap of the 2015 Canadian International AutoShow

The 2016 Canadian International AutoShow arrives this weekend promising to gather an assorted collection of automobiles. Before going into any depth with the 2016 edition of the Toronto exhibition, I wish to provide some enlightenment to the spirit of the event by profiling last year’s. While I was able to detail some of the content through articles and with videos on YouTube, I regret that I wasn’t able to write a full review of last year’s Canadian International AutoShow. I’ll sum it up by explaining that I simply froze. Last year’s media day for the Canadian International AutoShow corresponded with one of the coldest days of 2015. In my round-trip to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, there was about 15 minutes I needed to walk outside. In the morning it was about -15 degrees Celsius and my trip back had me moving through temperatures of -25 degrees Celsius. Between that time, I was inside a convention space where lights and constant movement made it feel like a sauna. I a...

Chevrolet Charges Forward with Bolt EV Production Car

Photo Credit: Chevrolet You could say Chevrolet recognized the 'current' stage of development for automobiles last year when they unveiled the Bolt EV concept . The electric car concept itself is far from being an imaginative design study but Chevrolet attached a strong sense of purpose behind the small vehicle first shown publicly at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. The last time such focus and devotion accompanied a radical vehicle proposal from Chevrolet, a 2007 plug-in hybrid concept car was sculpted into the production Volt sedan. Coming to life in a city set ablaze by the illumination of electric signs, the example of the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV production car shines brightly. A debut at the 2016 CES (Consumer Electronics Show), the 2017 Bolt EV is the second year in a row Chevrolet chose to give the high-tech minded audience in Las Vegas the first look at their electrified production car. Last, year, the second-generation Chevrolet Volt preview  al...

Chevrolet's Electric Concept Sending a Bolt into its Line-up

In addition to the redesigned plug-in hybrid Volt , rumours have strongly supported the presence of a fully electric-powered Chevrolet becoming part of this week's major automotive show in Detroit. As predicted, a Monday press conference brought forth the production precursor to Chevrolet's first car not to use an internal combustion engine. Billed as an affordable electric car capable of traveling 200 miles (321 kilometers) on a single charge, the Chevrolet Bolt EV Concept is created to be a zero-emissions vehicle viable for the regular motorist. “We have made tremendous strides in technologies that make it easier and more affordable for Chevrolet customers to integrate an all-electric vehicle in their daily lives,” said General Motors CEO Mary Barra.   Shown in concept trim for the 2015 North American International Auto Show, the Chevrolet Bolt EV is intended to become the brand's first electric-only vehicle. After practi...
